With deep sense of sorrow and great loss, the Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria announce the passing away of two distinguished members of the association Prof. Famuyiwa, O.O, and Prof. Fatoye, F.O. Both deaths occurred within a space of three days 19th & 22nd of January, 2018.the duo were still actively involved in the association’s affairs and left indelible footprints in the annals of Psychiatry in Nigeria.

Prof, Famuyiwa of the psychiatric department of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, was a one-time Chapter Chairman and College Vice President of the West African College of Physicians. He was buried in his hometown of Igede-Ekiti, Ekiti State with all the doyens of Psychiatry in Nigeria in attendance

Prof. Fatoye, of the Mental health department of the University of Ife Teaching Hospital, was a once the secretary of the faculty of Psychiatry of the National postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. As at the time of his death, he had risen to become the chairman of the Faculty in the same College. He was buried in his hometown of Otan-ayegbaju, Osun state with pomp.
